NORTH PITTSBURGH QUILTERS GUILD TO HOST QUILT SHOW
The North Pittsburgh Quilters Guild( NPQG) is hosting a quilt show celebrating 250 years of the USA Sept. 11 – 13 at Ross Township Community Center, located at 1000 Ross Municipal Drive.
It will be held from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 4 p. m. on Sunday. Admission is $ 10. The show will have vendors, raffle baskets, a raffle quilt and a Treasure Chest filled with fabric and other quilting items.
NPQG is a nonprofit whose main goal is to further the quilting skills and knowledge of its members through programming, local and national speakers, workshops, lectures and a sewing retreat. It also participates in community service projects including making quilts for foster children, Quilts of Valor, blankets for women’ s shelters and items for cancer patients.
The guild was founded in 1981 when women from a community college quilting class decided they wanted to continue to learn and grow as a group. Members are all ages and levels of experience, and the group is always looking for new members who want to enhance their quilting journey.

GREAT PYRENEES CLUB RESCUE TO HOST CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT
The Great Pyrenees Club of Western PA Rescue will host its charity golf tournament Aug. 31 at Edgewood Country Club, bringing together golfers, local businesses and animal lovers to support its mission of saving and rehoming large-breed dogs throughout Western Pennsylvania.
The fundraiser helps provide medical care, foster support and second chances for dogs in need. One recent success story is Porche, a mother dog who was abandoned with her 6-day-old puppies.
Unfortunately, only one of her pups survived, Lambo, but both dogs received care, were placed in a loving foster home and ultimately found their forever family. Stories like this highlight the impact of the organization’ s work and the importance of community support to continue rescuing dogs and giving them a new start.
MISSION OF MERCY PITTSBURGH FREE DENTAL AND HEARING CLINIC
Mission of Mercy Pittsburgh will host its ninth annual free dental and hearing clinic Oct. 16 – 17 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh, providing essential care to individuals and families who lack access to affordable services.
The event will offer dental exams, cleanings, fillings, extractions and root canals, along with hearing evaluations and free hearing aids.
New this year is an expanded partnership with UPMC Vision Institute that will connect patients in need of vision care to a follow-up Community Vision Day on Oct. 18, offering eye exams and free eyeglasses.
Supported by hundreds of volunteers, the clinic meets a growing need in the region, delivering life-changing care while helping people connect to long-term healthcare resources.
PITTSBURGH POWER & FITNESS FESTIVAL
The Pittsburgh Power & Fitness Festival returned May 16 – 17 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, bringing together elite athletes and fitness enthusiasts for a high-energy event.
Featuring competitions in bodybuilding, strongman, powerlifting, martial arts, wrestling and more— along with a large-scale fitness expo of more than 100 vendors— the festival also included the IFBB Pro League Pittsburgh Pro competition with $ 415,000 in prize money on the line.
New additions this year included expanded competitions, educational seminars and national-level events, further establishing the festival as a premier fitness showcase in the region.
