McKeesport hosts full weekend of Juneteenth activities
The City of McKeesport celebrated Juneteenth with a weekend full of fellowship and fun for all ages.
Juneteenth is celebrated to mark the end of slavery in the United States— highlighting the holiday with themes of freedom, resilience, and progress. McKeesport invited the community to celebrate Black history, American history, and the commitment to equality and opportunity for all.
Events included the inaugural Black Excellence Cabaret on June 19 at the Palisades, the fifth annual ComeGetWright“ Stop the Violence” Kickball Tournament and a performance by Big Jus and the Steeltown Horns followed by fireworks on June 20, and a Community Church Service in Renzie Park on June 21. cKeesport
