Twenty-eight McKeesport Area High School senior girls and their mothers or family friends attended the eighth annual formal tea and gown selection on Saturday, March 29th at the Beulah Park campus of the McKeesport Area Shared Ministry United Methodist Church( MASM). Area businesses donated shoes, manicures, glam bags, and other items to make the girls ' upcoming prom day a wonderful experience.

The cost of the gowns, shoes, and all the necessary accessories would cost about $ 1000.” Judge Spurgeon explained.
With the help of the Department of Human Services in Allegheny County, the gowns are obtained and the National Council of Jewish Women host this event for girls throughout the county. However, Judge Spurgeon has rallied his home community to do the Project Prom and with his church’ s former minister’ s wife, a formal tea began to accompany the day. Judge Spurgeon said,“ Each girl who attends brings either her mom, a female relative or friend, or has a volunteer assigned from my church to help them pick out their own gown. This is after a formal tea that most have never experienced before that day. It has become a great success with local businesses donating items to
