CITF Grant Provides New Heritage Center Roof
A $50,000 grant from the state’s Community Infrastructure and
Tourism Fund, administered by the Redevelopment Authority
of Allegheny County, has brought a new roof to portions of the
McKeesport Regional History and Heritage Center.
The project, which included new shingles and an improved
gutter system, was introduced to the City of McKeesport when
flooding and other water-related issues began to compromise
several cherished items at the center.
“I am happy to have supported this project, which allows our
local history center to better preserve the foundation of our
communities through its precious artifacts,” state Sen. James R.
Brewster said.
Paving Projects Under Way in McKeesport
The City of McKeesport is continuing its effort to mend city streets with milling and paving projects throughout the city’s 12 wards.
“Infrastructure improvements are a key aspect of the McKeesport Rising Project,” Mayor Michael Cherepko said. “It’s important to push
forward with repairing our roadways and keeping our neighborhoods accessible.”
While the Public Works Department is busy with a full season of paving projects, the city is fortunate to receive CDBG funding through
the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to cover additional milling and paving. City officials encourage drivers to stay
aware of their surroundings and always use caution in a construction site.
