McKeesport Celebrates Juneteenth and Father’s Day With support from the McKeesport community and local vendors, Cameron Preston and Tawnee Herriott hosted a community day to celebrate Juneteenth and Father’s Day with the same event. Families gathered under the Blue Top Pavilion in Renziehausen Park on June 21 for a lively cookout with music, children’s games, giveaways, and plenty of food. The idea was to celebrate black fathers and strong male role models in the McKeesport community while honoring two important holidays – Juneteenth, which celebrates the end of slavery in the United States, and Father’s Day, which honors fatherhood and paternal bonds. Organizers said the celebration was a great success, despite a brief downpour. They hope this year’s gathering was the first in a series of many annual events. The event flyer recognized DJ Cadell Doffdadj Shaw, Curt Harper, Dennis Robinson, and Mayor Michael Cherepko for their contributions. cKeesport CITY OF MCKEESPORT NEWS Renzie Market Offers Fresh Produce, Unique Products The Renzie Market is a collaborative, communitybased open market located behind the McKeesport Fire Department’s No. 2 Station in Renziehausen Park.
