The 66th annual International Village brought visitors to a new location for this time-honored tradition of ethnic food, fun, and entertainment. Founded in 1960, McKeesport’ s signature heritage festival brings people together in celebration of sights, sounds, and tastes from around the world. The event moved across Renziehausen Park this year to Long and Schettino fields and included a special performance by the Amish Outlaws on the Lions Bandshell stage.
“ International Village was reenergized this year,” McKeesport Mayor Tom Maglicco said.“ Not only were we happy to host the visitors who attend this event every year, but we introduced our community’ s favorite festival to so many people who have never been here.”
This year, guests gathered on August 18 and 18 for their favorite treats – apple dumplings from McKeesport Area Shared Ministry’ s Swedish booth, honey balls from the Greek booth, crepes from the Rankin Junior Tamburitzans’ Croatian booth, pigs feet and wings from Christ Temple AME’ s Ghanian booth and more! Customers were especially excited to see roasted lamb back on the Village menu – this time at the Australian booth.
