Students Inducted into National Honor Society
Numerous Mars Area High School students were inducted
into the school’s National Honor Society (NHS) on April 5.

Mars Area High School Indoor Drumline and Winterguard
competed in the 2018 Three Rivers Winter Ensemble
Association (TRWEA) Championships, held April 7, at Kiski
Area High School (Leechburg, PA).
The Indoor Drumline team earned second place with a
score of 87.45 in the Percussion Scholastic A competition.
The school’s Winterguard team took sixth place (76.12) in the
Scholastic Regional A competition. For complete results, visit

Also of note, the Indoor Drumline received seventh place
(79.60) overall in the Percussion Scholastic A competition
at the 2018 Winter Guard International (WGI) Sport of the
Arts Percussion Regional, held March 10 at Franklin Central

Board Appoints Director of Student Services
Mars Area School Board has appointed Dr. Richard Glosser as Director of Student Services.
Glosser, who joined the District as a school psychologist in 2011, previously served as a school
psychologist for Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV (Grove City, PA) and Mount Oliver Intermediate Unit II
(Pittsburgh, PA).
He has also previously worked as a private psychological consultant for Catapult Learning (Philadelphia,
PA) and Douglas A. Della Toffalo, Ph.D, & Assoc. (Johnstown, PA); as an independent contractor for Abraxas
Pittsburgh School; a behavior specialist consultant at the Wesley Institute Inc. (Gibsonia, PA); a principle
research associate at the University of Pittsburgh NIH Center of Excellence in Autism Research; a psychometrist at Allegheny
General Hospital; and a crisis intervention specialist at Family Resources (Pittsburgh, PA)
Glosser holds a doctoral degree in educational and school psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania; a certificate
of advanced graduate study and a master’s degree in school psychology from Duquesne University; and a master’s degree in
special education and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a nationally and state-certified
school psychologist as well as a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Pupil Service Administrators (PAPSA), the National
Association of School Psychologists (NASP), and the Advisory Board on Autism and Related Disorders (ABOARD). For more
