HIGH SCHOOL NAMES 2025 VALEDICTORIAN, SALUTATORIAN
Mars Area High School graduates Aiden Kuremsky and Morgan Duker were named valedictorian and salutatorian of the Class of 2025, respectively.
Aiden Kuremsky, 18, son of David and Patricia Kuremsky of Gibsonia, is a recipient of the U. S. Marine Corps— Scholastic Excellence, Edward Choura Vocational-Technical Automotive Tech / Baseball Scholarship, Ira E. Baumgartel MD Scholar-Athlete Scholarship, Jake Cooper Memorial Scholarship, Mars Backstop Club Baseball Scholarship, Ray Schleiden Family Scholarship and a 2023 Challenge Program( Academic Excellence) Award.
At Mars Area High School, Kuremsky served as National Honor Society secretary and was a member of Key Club, Science National Honor Society, and Varsity Club. He was also a member of the Varsity Baseball Team and Boys Varsity Cross Country Team.
He plans to attend Virginia Tech as a chemical engineering major.
Morgan Duker, 18, daughter of Daniel and Susan Duker of Gibsonia, is a recipient of the 2024-2025 Maude Neithercoat Award.
At Mars Area High School, Duker served as National Honor Society secretary and was a member of Class Council, Interact Club, Key Club, Spanish Club, and Spanish National Honor Society. She was also a member of the Girls Varsity Soccer Team, which advanced to the 2024 PIAA Class 3A Girls Varsity Soccer Championships after taking third place in the WPIAL Championships.
In addition, she was a member of the Girls Varsity Track & Field Team. During the 2025 Season, she set a new school record with a time of 25.90 in the 200-Meter Dash and 57.01 in the 400-Meter Dash.
She plans to attend Clemson University as a business major.
YOUTH LACROSSE TEAM TAKES FIRST PLACE IN PLAYOFFS
Mars Youth Lacrosse Association’ s U12 Platinum Team earned first place in the 2025 Western Pennsylvania Youth Lacrosse Association( WPYLA) Playoffs, held May 31-June 1 at Veterans Park( Beaver Falls, Pa.).
The team, which finished the season with an overall record of 13-1, earned the championship title after defeating Seneca Valley in the final game of the event.
Team members include sixth-graders Michael Bowser, Chase Donner, Aiden Kessler, Jacob Kleba, Hayden Letherby, Dylan McKenna, Connor Pribis, Joey Maker and Gunnar Rieling; and fifthgraders Avi Liben, Beckett Mayes, Benny Mascari and Parker Polito.
GIRLS YOUTH LACROSSE TEAM WINS LEAGUE TOURNAMENT
Mars Girls Youth Lacrosse Association’ s U12 Team won the 2025 Gold League Tournament, held May 17 at Wright Fields at Veterans Park
( Beaver Falls, Pa.). The team went undefeated in the tournament.
Team members include sixth-graders Elise Balazs, Annabelle Bombick, Makayla DaSilva, Alyssa Day, Dahlia Durham, Mia Franck, Lydia Lawrence, Lila Leapline, Grace Lynch, Molly Magness, Mia McCaskey, Ava McGuinness, Vivienne Navari, Genevieve Ratcliffe, Charlotte Reinard, and Ivy Temyer; and, fifth-graders Ally Carlson, Reese Emanuele, Payton Fry, Audrina Lampasi, Amelia Lavrinc, Isabella Maiure, Charlee McMurtrie, Aubrey Myers, Quinn Rosswog, Hadley Sichler, Josie Sondej and Ariana Stabile.
