Mums , pumpkins , grapes , apples , baked goods and more are ripe for the picking at local agribusiness booths .
BE A KID – Heard Park will be home to some extra activities this year including pumpkin painting , grape stomping , horse and carriage rides , and yard games .
CLIPPITY CLOP – See downtown North East by horse & carriage . Free rides leave regularly from Heard Park from 11 a . m . to 3 p . m . Saturday and from noon to 4 p . m . Sunday .
PIE EATING – Stop by the Episcopal Church of the Holy
Cross Church , 51 W . Main St . to pick up a homemade grape pie . Volunteers make more than 800 annually and they go fast .
PEDAL – See wine country by bike with Lake Country Bikes . Choose from a 15-mile route Friday or 30-mile route Saturday , both include stops at local wineries , wine courier service and food . Register at lakecountrybike . com / tours .
BRUNCH – Saturday morning The Skunk and Goat Tavern will serve up a special wine paired brunch featuring bubbly beverages from local wineries . The meal begins at 10 a . m . and seating is limited . Full menu and tickets at skunkandgoattavern . com .
WALK – The 13th annul Wine Fest 5K steps off from Gibson Park at 9 a . m . Saturday . It ’ s a great way to see historic downtown North East and includes refreshments and long-sleeved t-shirts .
