calendar. The artists were asked to write a
sentence about what helping people means to
them.
The result was a colorful variety of
watercolors, crayon, marker and chalk
drawings depicting everything from a child
helping another who had fallen on the
ground, to the Pirate Parrot teaching someone
how to do the parrot dance.
The 14 artists whose artwork appears full
size on the covers and the monthly pages
include: from Allison Park — Erin Stein,
Emma Stein; from Hampton — Sarah White,
Janita Michael, Addelyn Hastings, Isaac
Thatcher; from McCandless — Vincent
Wittmer-Bagby; from Shaler — Claire
Stevens, Allison Little; from Ross — Izzy
Czechowski, Leah Flaherty; from Pine —
Logan Krushinski, Kayla Karmanos; from
Avalon — Laila Tuffiash.
The artists were rewarded for their work
with a free calendar, provided through a
sponsorship from local pizza shop Pasquale’s
Pizzeria. In addition, Shaler North Hills
Library hosted a reception for the artists and
their friends and family.
