PITTSBURGH YOUTH CHORUS TO PRESENT‘ A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING’ CABARET
The Pittsburgh Youth Chorus( PYC) will present its Grand Night for Singing cabaret on Tuesday, June 2, at 5:30 p. m. at Greystone Fields in Gibsonia. This lively, family-friendly event will showcase the talents of PYC’ s young performers in an evening of solo and group numbers spanning a variety of music styles.
The cabaret will also feature special guest artists, including Scott Blasey, Steven Brault, Isabel Valasek and Liz Berlin, adding star power to an already exciting program.
Founded in 1981, the Pittsburgh Youth Chorus is dedicated to providing high-quality vocal training and performance opportunities for young singers throughout the region. Under the direction of Dr. Christine Jordanoff, the organization continues to inspire confidence, creativity and a lifelong love of music.

GIRL SCOUTS WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA CEO TO RETIRE
Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania Chief Executive Officer Patricia A. Burkart has announced her retirement, effective in June.
Burkart was named CEO in 2007, when the council was formed through a merger
of five western Pennsylvania councils— including Keystone Tall Trees, where she previously served as CEO.
Burkart has been a dedicated and passionate leader in the Girl Scout movement for 23 years. Prior to her executive roles, she served in a variety of capacities in social services supporting individuals with special needs.
I am grateful for Pat’ s leadership and her commitment to the Girl Scout mission,” said Nicole King Yohe, chair of the board of directors.“ Her impact isn’ t measured in years, but in the tens of thousands of girls who experienced the amazing benefits of Girl Scouting during her tenure. Girls were her top priority in every strategy and decision.”
GREAT PYRENEES CLUB OF WESTERN PA RESCUE TO HOST CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT
The Great Pyrenees Club will host its annual golf tournament on Aug. 31 at Edgewood Country Club, bringing together golfers, local businesses and animal lovers to support the rescue’ s mission of saving and rehoming large-breed dogs throughout Western Pennsylvania.
The fundraiser helps provide medical care, foster support and second chances for dogs in need. One recent success story is Porche, a mother dog abandoned along with her 6-day-old puppies. Only one pup, Lambo, survived, but thanks to the rescue’ s efforts, both dogs received care, were placed in a loving foster home, and ultimately found their forever family.
Stories like this highlight the impact of the organization’ s work and the importance of community support to continue rescuing dogs and giving them a new beginning.
MISSION OF MERCY PITTSBURGH SETS DATES FOR FREE DENTAL AND HEARING CLINIC
Mission of Mercy Pittsburgh will host its ninth annual free dental and hearing clinic Oct. 16 – 17 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh, providing essential care to individuals and families who lack access to affordable services. The two-day event will offer dental exams, cleanings, fillings, extractions and root canals, along with hearing evaluations and free hearing aids.
New this year: An expanded partnership with UPMC Vision Institute will connect those in need of vision care to a followup Community Vision Day on Oct. 18, offering eye exams and free eyeglasses.
Supported by hundreds of volunteers, the annual clinic continues to meet a growing need in the region, delivering life-changing care while helping patients connect to long-term health care resources.
