CELEBRATE THE WESTMORELAND ’ S 65TH ANNIVERSARY
Celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Westmoreland Museum of American Art opening its doors to the public by visiting the special exhibition of 65 artists from its permanent collection .
At 65 years , the museum is thinking about its role and responsibility to foster conversations that will cultivate an understanding of artistic expression , illuminate the interconnectedness of American stories , and value underrepresented perspectives .
The public is invited to join this forward-looking journey celebrating 65 years of art , culture , and community through Sept . 8 .
2ND ANNUAL SNIDER 5K RACE SET , ROAD CLOSURES ANNOUNCED
Final preparations for the 2nd Annual Steve Snider “ It ’ s A Beautiful Day ” 5K to honor the late former Greensburg Salem coach and educator are underway and the event is set for Memorial Day , Monday , May 27 , at 8:30 a . m .
Presented by the Greensburg YMCA , the race will start on Urania Avenue near Sunset Café and end at Offutt Field in Greensburg , taking participants through town . Walkers will partially continue their route on the Five Star Trail , splitting at
Huff Avenue , and finishing back on the Five Star Trail due to time limitations for road closures .
Several road closures will begin at 7:30 a . m . on Urania and on the course route . Participants who planned to park around Offutt Field need to be parked before the closures .
Recommended parking for the event is in the public garages , especially the Bell Garage located on W . Otterman Street below the courthouse . On-street parking is first-come , first-served . Parking is free for the day .
Race packet pickup ( and registration ) will be held Sunday , May 26 , from 4 to 8 p . m ., at Offutt Field . Race-day pickup is 7 to 8 a . m . The opening ceremony will be held at 8:15 a . m ., followed by the start at 8:30 a . m .
Overall and age group awards will be given . Cash prizes for top three male and female overall :
• First Place – $ 499
• Second Place – $ 250
• Third Place – $ 100 There also will be awards presented to the top three finishers in each age category . A race for kids will be held at 9:30 a . m . at Offutt Field .
Proceeds benefit the Steve Snider Memorial Scholarship Fund for the Greensburg Salem School District , youth activities at the Greensburg YMCA , and the revitalization of the City of Greensburg playgrounds . The longtime award-winning and beloved teacher and track / cross country coach passed away in February 2022 , after a long battle with heart complications .

GOLFING FOR DOGS !
No , the dogs won ’ t actually be playing golf , but people can make some dogs ’ lives much better by participating in the Great Pyrenees Charity Golf Tournament !
The tournament is held to benefit the Great Pyrenees Club of Western Pennsylvania , an all-volunteer organization . It ’ s an annual event that brings the community together to help with the rescue and rehabilitation of Great Pyrenees and other giant breeds , their medical expenses and rehoming .
The tournament will be held Aug . 26 at Edgewood Country Club in Churchill . There will be prizes for first , second and third place , as well as skill prizes . In addition to great golf on a lovely course , there will be dinner and a raffle .
