When it comes to improving and maintaining your overall well-being , finding a primary care physician ( PCP ) you can trust makes all the difference . That ’ s something Jodi Beggarly , a bariatric patient with stomach ulcers , can attest to firsthand .
“ I was having ongoing gastrointestinal flare-ups ,” Jodi said . With each one , she ’ d go to the emergency department at the hospital near her home in West Virginia . “ I went multiple times ,” she said . “ Each time they ’ d do tests , then send me home .” She was frustrated and in constant pain . Her cousin suggested she see her PCP , Christina Morgan , DO , at AHN Murrysville-Primary Care . “ My cousin kept saying , ‘ You need to see her . She ’ s the best .’”
The next time Jodi ’ s ulcer flared , she went to AHN Allegheny General Hospital ’ s emergency department . “ The doctors there did tests , and told me what was going on ,” Jodi said . “ I called my cousin , and she called Dr . Morgan ’ s office to explain the situation . They said , ‘ We ’ ll see her within the week .’ I left AGH that day with medication to calm my stomach spasms , which no one had ever given me before , and an appointment with
Dr . Morgan .” It was an appointment that would change Jodi ’ s life .
“ Jodi came to me with complex medical issues requiring a multidisciplinary team and specialty care ,” Dr . Morgan said . “ I got to know her well on paper and in person . She was suffering with a lot of abdominal pain , but had been tossed from person to person , place to place . She needed continuity .” Dr . Morgan started Jodi on a new medicine regimen and referred her to the AHN gastrointestinal and bariatric specialists to get to the bottom of her pain .
“ All the AHN doctors sat with me for over an hour , looked at what was going on , and listened to what I had to say ,” Jodi said . “ They actually cared about helping me get well . Finally , there was relief in sight .”
“ We really hit it off on the first visit and have since developed a good rapport ,” said Dr . Morgan . “ She ’ s in a much better place now .” Jodi agrees wholeheartedly . “ I have to drive over an hour to get to her , but it ’ s an hour well spent .”
