REGISTRATION FOR ANNUAL GREENSBURG TURKEY TROT IS OPEN
Register for the area ’ s largest Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot race !
The annual Greensburg Turkey Trot , scheduled for Thursday , Nov . 24 , beginning at 9 a . m ., was created 31 years ago by five friends who ran every day at lunch . The race has grown each year , and according to Mark Sorice , race committee chairman and one of the founders , another large turnout is expected . More than 2,000 runners / walkers participate every year .
“ Each year , we exceed our expectations and the turnout is incredible ,” says Sorice . “ This race is more than just a competitive event ; it is a signature community event that benefits many great organizations . The community has always supported the Turkey Trot in a big way .”
The founders created a nonprofit called Westmoreland Community Sharing to develop the Greensburg Turkey Trot 5K run / walk , to be held every year on Thanksgiving Day , and three decades later it is still going strong . Proceeds from the race support multiple nonprofits in the community .
Registration for the race can be completed online at gbgturkeytrot . com . There are also forms on the site that can be completed and mailed .
Not only does the race raise funds for local organizations , but it has evolved into a USATF-certified course and is now recognized for national records . The event , however , can accommodate both serious and casual runners .
Awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female runners and walkers ; and the top three overall Clydesdale runners .
In addition to individuals , racing is open for unlimited family , high school and corporate team members , who can register as a group in either the run or walk category . The top three times will be averaged to determine the winner of the Bupp Family Cup , and High School and Corporate Cup trophies .

Race packets and shirts can be picked up at the Greensburg YMCA gymnasium , 101 South Maple Avenue , on the following days :
• Monday , Nov . 21 – 12 to 6 p . m .
• Tuesday , Nov . 22 – 12 to 6 p . m .
• Wednesday , Nov . 23 – 12 to 6 p . m .
Thursday morning registration and shirt pickup will be at the Greensburg # 2 Fire House , 137 North Main Street , from 7 to 8:30 a . m .
2023 LUCKY NUMBER TICKETS AVAILABLE
The Sisters of Divine Providence announced the availability of 2023 Lucky Number tickets . The fundraiser is based on the Pick 3 Day and Evening PA Lottery games . Each $ 25 number is valid from Jan . 1 through Dec . 31 , 2023 — yours for the entire year ! Daily winners receive a minimum of $ 25 up to $ 150 on select days throughout the year when their three-digit number is selected . Gift orders are available .
