The library ’ s online calendar at ghal . org contains the most up-to-date schedule of programs and events for all age groups : adult , children , tweens , teens and families . New programs get added at various times , so be sure to follow the library ’ s social media pages on Facebook and Instagram @ ghalibrary for updates .
Adult programs that are returning this winter are Crochet Corner , Cooks and Books , Winery Book Club , Chess Club , DIY Maker Days , STEM Book Club and Socrates Café . New this winter is Journey Through the Classics Book Club , Let ’ s Stitch social group , public puzzles , Winter Watercolor , Stan Gordon Presents “ An Illustrated Historic Synopsis of PA ’ s UFO and Bigfoot Encounters ,” and others . APPEAL Why the need to register ? Funding is based on a complex algorithm that includes the number of program attendees . The library must meet specific requirements and submit a wide variety of reports every year to the state . A lot of behind-the-scenes work goes into keeping the door open and offering programs at no cost for the Greensburg and surrounding communities .
However , only about one-third of the library ’ s annual budget is supported by state funding . The rest is secured from donations , fundraising , grants , and generous support from foundations as well as an allotment from the city / county .
