Greensburg Salem High School Presents Mamma Mia!
O
n a small Greek island, Sophie dreams
of a perfect wedding — one which
includes her father giving her away.
The problem? Sophie doesn’t know who he
is! Her mother Donna, the former lead singer
of the 1970s pop group Donna and the
Dynamos, refuses to talk about the past, so
Sophie decides to take matters into her own
hands. Sneaking a peek in her mother’s old
diaries, she discovers three possible fathers:
Sam, Bill, and Harry. She secretly invites all
three to the wedding, convinced that she’ll
know her father when she sees him. But when
all three turn up, it may not be as clear as she
thought! Told through the legendary music of
ABBA, Mamma Mia! has become a worldwide
sensation that has audiences everywhere
dancing.
Performance dates are March 1 & 2 at 7:30
p.m. and March 3 at 2:00 p.m. Presale of tickets

Instilling the Love of the Game!
T
he Greensburg Salem Middle School 7th and 8th grade girls’
basketball team helped their coach, Rick Klimchock, conduct an
elementary basketball league earlier this fall for district students.
Over 50 girls in grades 3 through 6 enrolled in the program to learn the
game, develop their skills, and practice teamwork on the court.
Maddie Henry, a Nicely 3rd grader from Mrs. Stamford’s class, said she
loved being a part of the program because her big sister Paytan is on
the 8th grade team. “I like that we all work together,” stated Maddie.
Fourth-grader Emily Smith, from Mrs. Funk’s class at Metzgar, plans to be
36
greensburg salem
on the middle school team when she is a little older. When asked what
she thought was the best part of the program, she was quick to report
“layup drills” as her favorite!
Coach Klimchock recognizes the importance of not only bringing the
love of basketball to the Little Lions of GS, but to also engage his older
players in volunteer activities that benefit others.
“Every time we do this camp, I look forward to it and have a lot of
fun,” said Coach Klimchock. “We’re enhancing the future of the girls’
basketball program by getting students excited early on!”
