A lot has changed since AHN Forbes Hospital was built 40-plus years ago . But thankfully , a lot hasn ’ t . “ While many health care systems have centralized downtown , we ’ ve not only maintained our women ’ s health services , we ’ ve expanded them ,” said Forbes President , Mark Rubino , MD .
So how are we evolving ? We ’ ve added a new breast clinic , adjacent to our imaging center . “ This allows us to integrate our clinical , surgical , radiologic , and care navigator talents and services into one comprehensive and convenient center ,” said Dr . Rubino . “ The efforts to coordinate and integrate make all the difference . When every service is right there , with a care navigator at the center , it ’ s comforting for the patient and eliminates anxiety and stress , which increases the likelihood of a better outcome .”
“ The new breast clinic has the full complement of breast imaging services , including ultrasound and 3-dimensional mammography . And should you need a biopsy or genetic testing ? We can take care of that right here too .”

“ And we ’ re thrilled to say we ’ ve added Mary Freyvogel , DO , FACOS , to our team . She brings extensive surgical experience and research interest in breast cancer , benign breast disease , high-risk evaluation and surveillance , and breast cancer survivorship . We also have trauma specialists and behavioral health support for women who ’ ve experienced a stressful or complicated pregnancy or traumatic delivery and need extra counseling through their next one . Now women can get high-risk pregnancy , pelvic floor disorder , urogynecology and infertility , and postpartum depression care right here .”
Additionally , we ’ ve brought on plastic surgeon , Darren LePere , MD . “ For women requiring a mastectomy or double mastectomy , the ability to have the reconstruction begin here , at the time of their initial procedure , benefits the patient both physically and psychologically ,” said Dr . Rubino .
And Westmoreland OBGYN became part of East Suburban OB / GYN Associates . “ This allows us to not only maintain these practices that have been in our community for multiple generations , but grow them ,” Dr . Rubino said . In this case , we ’ ve added Kelsie Mittereder , DO , to the East Suburban team . She shares our individualized and holistic approach to women ’ s health and wellness .
