SAFETY, HEALTH & WELLNESS EVENT BRINGS COMMUNITY TOGETHER
T he Fox Chapel Area School District hosted its fourth annual free Community Safety, Health & Wellness Event in April in Aspinwall. This year’ s expanded event featured vendor booths, a touch-a-truck area, wellness screenings, free bike helmets for children and other giveaways, a bike rodeo with police, car seat checks, food, and a special visitor this year … the Pirate Parrot!
The event was sponsored by the Fox Chapel Area school resource officers, in conjunction with the district’ s municipalities and their police forces. Local fire and EMS departments also participated.

According to Joe Kozarian, Fox Chapel Area School District’ s chief of school police, the event is a way for community members to meet the school resource officers who work closely with students, as well as other first responders. It is also a day to provide the community with information on health and wellness.
“ Our school resource officers look forward to this event every year,” Chief Kozarian said.“ It gives them an opportunity to connect with our local residents and our community first responders. The residents of the Fox Chapel Area School District communities have always supported our efforts to keep our students and staff safe, and this event is a way that we can reach out to thank them.”
