A total of 270 members (78 percent) of the 345 students in the Class of 2018 took the SAT during their junior
or senior year. Fox Chapel Area High School students have outscored the state and nation on the SAT in all
subject areas for many years. State and national SAT mean scores were not available for 2018 at press time.

The high school offered 26 Advanced Placement (AP) courses during the 2017-2018
school year and many students take multiple courses. Success on an AP exam is defi ned
as a score of 3 or higher which represents the score point that research fi nds predictive
of college success and college graduation. More than 93 percent of Fox Chapel Area
students scored 3 or higher. In 2018, 68.2 percent of Pennsylvania AP students scored
3 or higher, and, globally, 61.3 percent scored three or higher. Fox Chapel Area students
continue to outscore other students in the state and globally.
