T
his fall, Allegent Community
Federal Credit Union, the Cranberry
Eagle Community Choice Gold
award winner, brings its premier
products and services to Cranberry,
making this the fourth branch location and
first in Butler County.
Started in 1935 as the Allegheny County
U.S. Government Employees Federal Credit
Union inside the post office and courthouse
on Grant Street, Allegent has grown in
the region, and is now a community-
based credit union open to anyone who
lives, works, worships or attends school in
Allegheny and Butler counties.
“All it takes is a $5 savings deposit to
become a member,” said Mark Bruno, Vice
President of Lending. “That opens the door
to great rates on home equity loans, auto
loans, personal loans, Visa credit cards,
share-secured loans and access to over
9,000 ATMs surcharge-free through our
partnership with PNC® Bank.”
Their other locations include Downtown,
Penn Hills and Wexford, but a dedication to
technology means members rarely have to
set foot inside a physical location to do the
majority of their business.
“We have all the technology that the
bigger banks would offer in regard to
mobile banking,” Bruno said. “Our debit and
credit cards work with Apple Pay, Google
Pay, and Samsung Pay. Our debit cards
offer a Card Valet app that allows members
to shut off their card immediately in case
it’s lost or stolen. You can apply for a loan
on our website or mobile app. We also offer
mobile deposit so you can deposit a check
right from your smartphone. For those
looking for traditional banking services,
Allegent’s new Cranberry location will offer
everything anyone could want, including
drive-thru and ATM services.”
Bruno said two products that are
extremely popular with members include
home equity loans and our Premier Money
Plus Checking Accounts.
“We not only have very competitive
rates, but our home equity loans have no
closing costs—ever. Most companies will
have teaser rates and stipulations buried
in the fine print, but our goal is to always
be competitive with our home equity rates
without having closing costs and minimal
fine print,” he said. “People like when you
keep things simple and that’s exactly what
we do.”
With our Premier Money Plus Checking
Accounts, Bruno said “people can earn
dividends on their checking account
with only $1,500 required to open. Our
Premier Money Plus account also includes
identity theft protection, three bureau
credit monitoring, instant credit inquiry
alert, travel benefits, cellular care coverage,
retail and restaurant gift card discounts,
and entertainment discounts,” he said.
“These features are provided at NO COST
to our members with a Premier Money Plus
Checking Account.”
They also have competitive rates for
money market savings and certificates, as
well as FREE Value Checking Accounts with
only $5 required to open and no minimum
balance requirements.
What’s more, Allegent Community FCU
is an active member of every community
where there is a branch. It supports St.
Jude’s Children’s Hospital year round,
and reaches out to community leaders to
actively support charities at a local level.
