Leading with Heart: Student Ambassadors Make a Difference

Beyond academics, Student Ambassadors at CVIS have been hard at work making their school an even better place to learn and grow. These dedicated students are divided into four committees, each with a unique mission that fosters leadership, service, and school spirit. The Kindness Crew focuses on giving back, organizing fundraisers, and service projects that support both the local community and school initiatives. Their work not only raises awareness of important causes but also helps students see the power of compassion in action. The PBIS Patrol takes the lead in promoting positive behavior across the building, celebrating students and staff who go above and beyond to make CVIS a respectful and responsible environment. Meanwhile, the Unity Team works to ensure that kindness, acceptance, and inclusion are at the heart of daily school life, encouraging all students to feel seen and valued. Rounding out the group, the 5th Grade Peer Helpers serve as role models for younger students, offering support with organization, assisting with school events, and setting a positive example through their leadership and enthusiasm.

“ Our Student Ambassadors truly represent the heart of CVIS,” said Mrs. Beckett.“ They model what it means to be kind, responsible, and community-minded leaders, and we’ re incredibly proud of their efforts.”
A School Where Curiosity Meets Creativity

From exploring the engineering design process with VEX robotics to discovering the power of storytelling with Alan St. Jean, and fostering leadership through Student Ambassadors, CVIS is cultivating well-rounded learners who are curious, confident, and community-minded. Through these hands-on, inspiring experiences, students are not only mastering academics but also developing the skills, creativity, and compassion they need to thrive both in school and in life. At CVIS, innovation, imagination, and inspiration are at the heart of everything students do.

Running for a Cause: The Annual Turkey Trot at Chartiers Valley Middle School

Every November, the halls of Chartiers Valley Middle School fill with excitement as students and staff come together for one of the most anticipated events of the year— the Annual Turkey Trot. More than just a fun day outdoors, the Turkey Trot brings the entire CVMS community together in the spirit of giving and gratitude.

This year’ s event featured some exciting new additions, making it one of the most memorable yet. Students had the chance to compete in a lively 5-on-5 flag football tournament, express their creativity through the Thankful Feathers art activity, and test their luck at the Duck Pond to win prizes. The mix of friendly competition and festive fun created an atmosphere full of energy and laughter.
To add even more excitement, Mr. Pegher, the school principal, volunteered to be pied in the face by the homeroom that raised the most money for families in need. The friendly competition paid off in a big way: the CVMS community raised an impressive $ 1,600 to support local families during the holiday season.
Events like the Turkey Trot remind everyone that the true spirit of the holiday season isn’ t just about celebration— it’ s about coming together to make a difference. Through teamwork, generosity, and school pride, Chartiers Valley Middle School once again showed what community truly means.
