The Bridgeville-South Fayette Rotary Club recently hosted its annual Scholarship and Service Luncheon at the Bethany Presbyterian Church, providing a meaningful backdrop to celebrate the impact of student-led community outreach. Guided by the Rotary mission of Service Above Self, the gathering honored a select group of students from Chartiers Valley Middle School who have gone beyond their academic requirements to support their neighbors. This partnership between local civic leaders and the school district highlighted the importance of character and compassion, proving that the most valuable lessons are often those learned through helping others.

The honorees were recognized for a diverse array of selfless contributions that have strengthened the local community. In the sixth grade, Julian Storch was praised for his initiative in repairing the lighting at Holy Trinity Church, while Harper Patouillet was honored for her dedicated volunteerism with the Special Olympics and her service in her church youth ministry. Seventh-grade recipients included Brayden Gump, who cleared snow-covered church steps during a major winter storm and participated in food drives, and Juliette Berton, a reliable volunteer at the Bridgeville Library. Rounding out the awards were eighth-graders Sadie Flick, who mentored younger peers during their transition to middle school, and Felix Baverso-Koenig, who has served as a patient coach and role model for young athletes at the Boys and Girls Club.
