PRIMARY SCHOOL

Families at Chartiers Valley Primary School stepped into a world where fairy tales and technology combined for an unforgettable evening of creativity, collaboration, and innovation during the school’ s“ Fairy Tale VEX Robot Coding” event held on May 6, 2026.

The event was part of Remake Learning Days, an international festival that celebrates hands-on learning opportunities for children and families. Organized through Remake Learning, the initiative connects educators, schools, libraries, museums, and community organizations to create engaging experiences that inspire curiosity and discovery in young learners.
Chartiers Valley Primary School transformed its learning spaces into an interactive fairy tale adventure where students and their families explored STEM concepts through coding, engineering, and problem-solving activities. The evening’ s imaginative theme encouraged participants to think creatively while working together to complete a variety of hands-on challenges.
Second-grade teacher Shelley Territ organized the event and was instrumental in bringing the magical evening to life. Through thoughtful planning and preparation, Mrs. Territ designed a family experience that seamlessly blended literacy, engineering, coding, and collaboration. Her dedication and enthusiasm were evident in every detail of the program, creating an atmosphere that was both educational and joyful for students and families alike.
Throughout the evening, children and their families rotated through engaging learning stations inspired by beloved fairy tales. Participants used creativity and teamwork to build a chair sturdy enough for Goldilocks, engineer a boat for the Three Billy Goats Gruff, and guide robots safely through the woods while avoiding the Big Bad Wolf. Each activity encouraged students to think critically, test ideas, and persevere through challenges, all while having fun together.
Adding to the success of the evening were student volunteers from Chartiers Valley Middle School, who enthusiastically led each learning station. The middle school students served as mentors and role models, helping younger students navigate coding tasks and engineering challenges while fostering a supportive and collaborative learning environment.

students with excitement as they arrived for the event. Each child received a special bag to collect the items they created throughout the evening, along with a crown and a station card that guided them through their fairy tale learning journey.
The event reflected Chartiers Valley Primary School’ s commitment to providing innovative and meaningful educational experiences that extend beyond the traditional classroom. By combining storytelling with STEM education,“ Fairy Tale VEX Robot Coding” not only strengthened problem-solving and coding skills, but also created lasting memories for students and their families.

As laughter, learning, and imagination filled the halls, the evening served as a reminder that some of the most powerful learning experiences happen when schools, families, and communities come together to explore, create, and dream. hartiers Valley
