THREE RIVERS QUILTERS TO HOST ANNUAL QUILT SHOW
The Three Rivers Quilters Guild will present its 2017 quilt show April 27, 28 and 29 at a new location: the Meadows Race Track and Casino Special Event Center, 210 Racetrack Road, Washington. This colorful show will feature over 100 quilts created by fabric artists from far and wide. Quilts will range from miniatures to bed size, done in many different techniques. In addition, there will be ongoing quilting demonstrations, a sewing-related“ Granny’ s Attic” and many vendors with quilt-related items. This venue is in the heart of a rich entertainment area that offers something for everyone. In addition to the Meadows Racetrack and Casino, with racing, gambling, bowling, restaurants and much more, there is shopping, including outlet shopping, the Trolley Museum, motels and restaurants.
The show will run April 27 from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m.; April 28 from 10 a. m. to 7:30 p. m.; and April 29 from 9:30 a. m. to 4 p. m. Cost is $ 10 per person, with special $ 5 admission after 3 p. m. on Friday.
This year’ s theme is“ Two Color Quilts.” The juried and judged show is open to all quiltmakers. Ribbons and cash prizes will be awarded. Entries should be submitted by March 21. The special exhibit is“ The Food Quilt” that was created to bring awareness to the plight of those in need of food assistance in our area. This quilt will be donated to the Greater Washington County Food Bank to be used as a fundraiser.

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN FOR THE CLEAN WATER ACADEMY— ALCOSAN’ S SUMMER STEM PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS BEGINS JULY 17
Ignore the winter weather and start thinking about summer. Registration is now open for the Allegheny County Sanitary Authority’ s Clean Water Academy.
The week-long day camp is designed for students in grades 9 and 10. This enrichment program exposes students to science, technology, engineering and math content relating to wastewater treatment. Topics include engineering, chemistry, microbiology and technology.
The camp will be held from 9 a. m. to 3 p. m., Monday through Friday, July 17-21. The program is free and most of the activities will be held at ALCOSAN’ s North Side plant.
Staff from ALCOSAN’ s Scholastic Outreach and Education Department will lead the camp along with faculty members from Carlow University.
Students must bring their own lunches, except on Friday, when pizza will be provided. Morning and afternoon snacks are included, and bus tickets will be provided as needed.
