Deanna Grandstaff , a dedicated band teacher at
Cecil Intermediate School in Cecil Township , is set to receive national recognition for her outstanding contributions to music education . She will be honored at the CMA Foundation ’ s eighth annual Music Teachers of Excellence Awards on Sept . 17 , 2024 , at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville , Tennessee .
The CMA Foundation , the philanthropic arm of the Country Music Association , will celebrate 30 music educators from across the United States at this prestigious event . These teachers are being recognized for their exceptional dedication and impact on music education within their classrooms and school communities . The honorees include 10 teachers from Metro Nashville Public Schools , 10 from various districts in Tennessee and 10 from other states across the country .
Established in 2016 , the Music Teachers of Excellence program honors music educators who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to high-quality music programs and have positively influenced their school communities through music . Grandstaff ' s selection for this award highlights her significant contributions to music education at Canon-McMillan School District .
Bob Kleinhans , Principal of Cecil Intermediate School , expressed his admiration for Grandstaff ' s work , stating , " I can ' t think of a music teacher
more deserving of this honor than Deanna Grandstaff ! She epitomizes what it means to be an outstanding music educator on a daily basis . In her role as a Music Department Head , Mrs . Grandstaff is an advocate for all of the students in the Canon-McMillan School District . She works closely with her colleagues in the music department , our district administration and our community to provide a balanced and inclusive music program . At Cecil Intermediate School alone , the number of students participating in our instrumental music program since she joined our staff has grown exponentially each year . She truly is an asset to our students , our school , and our district ."
Grandstaff ' s recognition goes beyond the accolades . She will receive $ 2,500 to enhance her music classroom at Cecil Intermediate School and an additional $ 2,500 as a personal stipend . This award will help further her mission to provide high-quality music education and opportunities for her students .
