C-M Seniors Recognized
at Scholarship Banquet
More than 125 Canon-McMillan High School seniors were
recently awarded more than $6.5 million from colleges and
universities, along with nearly $58,000 from independent
scholarships at the annual scholarship banquet at the Hilton
Garden Inn, Southpointe.
The Community Scholarship Foundation of Canon-McMillan
awarded 82 scholarships totaling $80,750, including several for
students entering vocational fields.
The Burnfield Memorial Scholarship, established in memory
of Nathaniel Burnfield – who was killed while working as police
officer – was retired this year, with Dillon O’Donoghue and
Jordan Underwood the final recipients.
Joos Recognized
as Ramsey Student
Volunteer of the Year
Megan Joos, a senior at Canon-McMillan High School, was recently
honored as the M. Kathleen Ramsey Student Volunteer of the Year at the
United Way of Washington County’s annual awards event. Ms. Joos will
attend the University of Alabama in the fall majoring in pre-medicine.
She completed more than 650 hours of service hours
for a variety of organizations including Relay for Life,
Mount Lebanon Surgical Center, local churches,
schools and the library. Ms. Joos was nominated for
this award by Mrs. Karen Rubican, School Counselor.
