Downtown Building Renovation Pays Homage to Its Roots

After purchasing the property at 57 West Pike Street , Karen Curry and Harry and Sharon Hritsko , knew they wanted to do something special with this historic building . Through research , these Canonsburg natives learned that this building housed the original Canonsburg firehouse in the 1800 ’ s , and plans were soon put in place to closely replicate the original façade .

Cleaning and repointing of the original brick on the second level took place this past fall . Renovation plans starting this spring , will include replacing the secondfloor windows in their original size , replacing the firstfloor windows and door with a “ firehouse ” look door and window system , cleaning and repair of the round portal windows , a fresh coat of paint on the lower level and a new sign replicating the original firehouse marker above the front entrance . A lighting fixture crafted out of firehose , donated by the Canonsburg VFD , will grace the interior entrance as further homage to the building ’ s history .
A complete interior renovation is to follow featuring an updated , contemporary apartment and office on the second floor . The first-floor space will house one of downtown Canonsburg ’ s newest retail spaces to open this fall , Good Goods Marketplace , offering one-of-a-kind pieces , unique home décor , accessories , and gifts .
