ANNOUNCES 2020
SCHOLARSHIP
PROGRAM
The Southpointe CEO Association
(SPCEOA) announced that its
2020 scholarship program is now
accepting applications.
Celebrating and encouraging
leadership development in business,
community, and education, the
SPCEOA will award up to two $5,000
scholarships to individuals who have
demonstrated excellence in leadership
and educational achievement. The
program seeks to recognize Washington
County residents who strive to improve
their leadership skills and achieve
higher levels of education.
The SPCEOA Scholarship Program is
open to individuals who are employees
(or dependents of employees) of
SPCEOA and/or Washington County
Chamber of Commerce member
organizations and reside in Washington
County. The program was created to help
provide support to those who seek to
make a positive impact in the community
through the completion of a college,
post-graduate, or technical degree.
The SPCEOA awards the two
scholarships in honor of Jack B. Piatt,
Founder and Chairman of Millcraft
Investments and founder of the
Southpointe CEO Association.
“The Southpointe CEO Association
is proud to offer this scholarship
opportunity to outstanding students
and emerging leaders in Washington
County,” said Association President Dr.
David Mariner. “We have no doubt that
the candidates for 2020 will continue
to raise the bar and develop into future
leaders in our county. We are also thrilled
to recognize and honor Mr. Piatt for his
contributions to the development of
Southpointe and Washington County.”

for applications is Tuesday, Apr. 30, by
4:00 p.m. Applications postmarked or

the deadline will not be considered. The
scholarship awards will be announced
in May.
The Southpointe CEO Association, a
nonprofit organization formed in 1997,
is dedicated to advancing
the interests of businesses
and businesspeople located
in and around Southpointe.
In keeping with the
theme of public/private
partnerships that built Southpointe,
the association brings together local,
regional and national business leaders
as well as government officials from
all levels to build upon the region’s
business success.

ANNOUNCES
NEARLY $100K IN
INVESTMENTS
Washington County, which is home
to some of the country’s finest historical
and cultural attractions, continues to
lead the region in both economic and
tourism growth.
To demonstrate this growth
and tourism’s impact on economic
development, the Washington County
Tourism Promotion Agency announced
$99,657 in new tourism investments.
The agency was joined by the
Washington County Commissioners
and representatives of the county’s
tourism attractions at an event held at
The Spring House.
“Washington County’s economy
is not only being driven by energy,
education and advanced manufacturing,
but by a strong tourism industry. In
fact, tourism continues to be one of
the largest industries in the county
with over $700 million in direct visitor
spending and supporting nearly 6,000
jobs, according to the Pennsylvania
Department of Community &
