Wylandville Elementary School Recognized for
School-Wide Positive
Behavior Support
Implementation
W
ylandville Elementary
School is one of the smaller
elementary buildings in the
Canon-McMillan School District, holding
approximately 260 students from
kindergarten through the fourth grade.
In 2010 it was a National Blue-Ribbon
School. In 2019 it has been recognized
for School-Wide Positive Behavior
Support!
Wylandville Elementary School was
recognized for both Tier 1 and Tier 2
Implementation of School-Wide Positive
Behavior Support with high fidelity at
the 2019 PBIS Implementers’ Forum in
Hershey, PA on May 14th and 15th. They
38
CANON-MAC
were recognized for sustaining high
fidelity implementation in both Tier 1
and Tier 2 interventions. They have been
applauded for this in past years as well.
The school was at 100% implementation
for both Tier 1 and Tier 2 during the
application phase. This achievement was
accomplished because every teacher
and staff member in the building worked
hard and followed through with every
aspect of this program. Olivia Bost,
Kristy Chavez, and Heather Merry, who
are Wylandville teachers on the SWPBIS
Core Building Team, attended a special
recognition luncheon to accept these
awards.
So, what is this project? School Wide
Positive Behavior Support is a program
that all five of the Canon-McMillan
elementary schools are involved with.
It includes a core team of teachers that
are varied in the grade levels and subject
matter so that all areas of the school
are represented. The core team helps to
review building data and plan activities.
A consultant from IU1, Amy Dillow, is also
involved and helps to review for fidelity
and effectiveness.
