CELEBRATING CHARACTER AT ELROY ELEMENTARY: STUDENT OF THE MONTH SHINES BRIGHT
At Elroy Elementary, we believe that academic success is only part of the story. Just as important are the values and character traits that shape who our students are as friends, learners and future leaders. That is why each month we focus on a different Character Trait of the Month— and recognize students who bring that trait to life in our school.
From kindness and responsibility to perseverance and teamwork, each trait is woven into classroom conversations, morning announcements and daily interactions. Teachers are encouraged to highlight these traits during lessons, read-alouds, and classroom activities, helping students build strong social and emotional skills alongside their academics.
STUDENT OF THE MONTH: RECOGNIZING THE HEART OF ELROY rentwood Borough SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS
To celebrate those students who consistently demonstrate the monthly trait, each teacher selects one student to be honored as Student of the Month. These students are recognized during a virtual ceremony where families are invited to tune in and cheer them on. Each honoree receives a personalized certificate and a special pencil to mark the achievement.
This tradition not only boosts confidence and pride but also reinforces the power of positive behavior and the importance of being a kind and responsible member of our school community.
By connecting character traits to real student actions, our Student of the Month program helps bring our school values to life. It shows our students that being respectful, helpful and determined matters just as much as grades or test scores.
