On behalf of the board of directors, we would like to congratulate and welcome our two new school directors. Louise Mancuso Wolf and Jerry Pantone will be sworn in on December 6th. They will be filling the seats of Martin Michael Schmotzer and Elliot Rambo, whom we thank for their service to the District. Dave Solenday and I also ran for re-election, and we were each re-elected for our second terms.( Directors may run every four years, and there is no limit on terms.)

There are many challenges ahead for the new board. With less state funding for our schools and more reliance on funding through taxes, the board must continue to review all aspects of the District to ensure a high-quality educational program, while finding creative ways to fund such a program.
For the past several years, the Board of School Directors has set goals focused on the mission of the School District. They center on Traditional Values, Quality Education, and a World of Opportunities. We strive to achieve these goals by working together with the administration.
Traditional Values: Increase community engagement and energize the District’ s sense of pride by:
• Strengthening community relations by continuing to build relationships with parents, PTA / PTO, staff, and students of Baldwin- Whitehall, which enables us to work as a team towards the education of the students.
• Developing a year-to-year public relations / marketing plan that demonstrates ways to improve communication between the board and the community.
Quality Education: Strive for excellence in education by:
• Providing state-of-the-art instruction, which meets the needs

of each student’ s unique learning profile by expanding innovation, collaboration, and problem-solving in every classroom to ensure college and career readiness and success in life after graduation.
• Continuing to provide a safe and nurturing environment to our students in order to increase overall academic achievement.
• Maintaining fiscal accountability through responsible budgetary decisions and continuous monitoring of expenditures and revenues, ensuring that all financial decisions have the least adverse impact on education.
A World of Opportunities: Work with the superintendent to lead the District toward the vision by:
• Developing skills in teamwork, problem-solving, and decisionmaking.
• Understanding and adhering to laws and local policies regarding the board’ s responsibility to set policy and the superintendent’ s responsibility to manage the school district and to direct employees in District and campus matters.
• Adhering to established policies and procedures for receiving and addressing ideas and concerns from students, employees and the community.
The Board of School Directors thanks our members for their service, and our community for your support. We look forward to working with you. All residents are welcome to attend our board meetings, which happen on the first and second Wednesdays of each month.

Working together, our board and our community will continue to make Baldwin-Whitehall a school district that our entire community is proud of. aldwin-Whitehall
