Streets Run Stream Clean-Up The June/ July rain events this past summer which flooded Streets Run Road and forced the closure of the roadway approximately 14+ times over those two months between Hays in the City of Pittsburgh and Prospect Roadway, brought State and local officials together to look for possible ways to alleviate the flooding along this stretch of roadway. After numerous meetings and phone calls with the DEP and help from our local State Representatives and Borough Council along with the Borough Mayor, the DEP issued an Emergency Permit which allowed the Borough to enter the stream and clean-up debris and the build-up of non-native material (bricks, rocks, trees, etc.). The Borough undertook the clean-up as part of a joint effort with the Borough’s Public Works forces and a contractor (Stefanik’s Next Generation). Additionally, the State (PennDOT) performed some stream improvements as well near the site of the Old Chesapeake Restaurant. The result is a wider and less debris filled Streets Run stream.
