Banner Community Recognition
Around Brentwood
Brentwood Borough has once again been recognized as a Banner Community by Allegheny County— marking 13 consecutive years receiving the designation.
The Banner Community Program recognizes municipalities that demonstrate excellence in local government through professional development, fiscal responsibility, transparency, accountability, and strong community engagement.
Borough officials say the recognition reflects the daily work happening across every department to provide reliable services, maintain infrastructure, communicate with residents, and continue improving the community.
The Borough thanks council members, staff, volunteers, and residents whose continued support helps make Brentwood a strong and connected community.
Property Maintenance & Neighborhood Standards

During the spring and summer months, Brentwood Borough receives an increase in property maintenance complaints related to high grass, weeds, trash, and exterior upkeep. If you receive a Notice of Violation from the Borough, it does not mean you are immediately being fined or taken to court.
In most cases, the notice is simply the first step in the process and provides property owners time to correct the issue. Once a concern is reported, the Borough’ s Code Department must inspect and document the violation before notifying the property owner and scheduling follow-up inspections.
HOW THE PROCESS WORKS 1. Complaint Received 2. Violation Confirmed 3. Notice Issued 4. Follow-Up Inspection 5. Magistrate Filing 6. Court Action
Why It Can Take Time
Many residents ask why some properties seem to take longer to address than others. The answer is that code enforcement is a legal process that requires documentation, notice periods, inspections, and, in some cases, magistrate involvement before further action can be taken.
Residents are encouraged to respond promptly to notices and communicate with the Borough when issues are corrected. That cooperation helps staff resolve cases more efficiently and keep Brentwood’ s neighborhoods looking their best.
