Preparing for a Truly Unique Year aldwin-Whitehall BALDWIN-WHITEHALL SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS

Dear Friends and Families of Baldwin-Whitehall,
With summer in full swing, I imagine most of us are thinking about the usual topics: ice cream, swimming, baseball, vacation, and how to stay cool when the temperatures rise. But quite a few of our District families are also thinking about something very unusual, because it’ s never been done before in Baldwin-Whitehall: next year, due to construction, our kindergarten and high school students will be going to school in the same building.
Everything that we do in Baldwin-Whitehall is done with our students’ needs in mind. The decision to temporarily relocate kindergarten to BHS was not made lightly, but rather with a tremendous amount of forethought, planning, and preparation. Every step has been taken to ensure that not only will these two groups of learners not interfere with or distract each other, but on the contrary, that they will all be properly supported in every way.
Also, many of our BHS students are excited about being able to serve as helpers and mentors for our kindergarteners this year, which is an opportunity we’ ve never been able to offer them before. Whether they’ re interested in becoming
Dear Baldwin-Whitehall Community,
What an extraordinary year it has been. Watching Highlander Time take root and flourish at Baldwin High School has been a true highlight. This innovative scheduling model is a testament to our District’ s commitment to reimagining education— meeting every student where they are and empowering them to thrive academically and personally. We are so proud of the bold thinking our educators bring to their work every day.
We are equally proud of the thoughtful, collaborative process that shaped our plans for McAnnulty Elementary. By listening closely to our teachers, we arrived at a solution that prioritizes student safety and continuity above all else. That is exactly how decisions should be made— together, with our students’ needs leading the way.
36 BRENTWOOD-BALDWIN-WHITEHALL teachers themselves or they simply enjoy being able to provide guidance and peace of mind to their younger counterparts, our caring and empathetic high schoolers are ready to step up and light the way for our littlest learners.
Finally, there’ s a benefit to our older learners, faculty, and staff as well. As you probably remember, high school can feel like an allconsuming experience when you’ re in it, but being reminded of the wonder and joy of early childhood can go a long way toward rekindling our own sense of curiosity, creativity, and excitement about the future.
While there are lots of great things to look forward to as the 2026-2027 school year approaches, what I might be the most excited about is seeing our high schoolers and our kindergarteners lead, help, and teach each other by example.
Sincerely,
Dr. Randal A. Lutz Superintendent of the Baldwin-Whitehall
School District

Important Summer Safety Notice Regarding eBikes

We want all children to have a safe and enjoyable summer. Please take a minute to familiarize yourself with the PA Micromobility Rules linked to the QR code and remind them that a key component of road safety is realizing other drivers can’ t always see them.
While it’ s great to see more kids making use of bikes and other non-vehicle options, let’ s all do our part to ensure that these devices are always being used safely, responsibly, and according to state regulations. Being able to move around freely is one of life’ s greatest pleasures, but getting there safe and sound is what really matters.
