STUDENTS LEARN FROM COMMUNITY HEROES |
Every day, our community is filled with heroes who help others in countless ways. The Kindergarten students at McAnnulty Elementary School were thrilled to spend a special day meeting some of these local heroes in person. The students had the chance to interact with a wide variety of professionals. Throughout the day, students learned about each hero’ s job, the tools they use, and how they make a difference in the community. It was a meaningful day that sparked curiosity and imagination, encouraging the children to dream about the many careers they might pursue when they grow up, and the people they might help too! |
SOLID SCIENTIFIC SCULPTURES
Second-grade scientists from Mrs. Jeffrey’ s, Mr. Myers’ s, Mrs. Proctor’ s, and Ms. Martin’ s classes at R. A. Lutz Elementary have been learning about properties of solids and liquids. They created sculptures at home with help from their families. The goal was to look around their homes, take ordinary household items, and reuse them in creative ways. They collected everyday items like paper, buttons, socks, string, fabric, egg cartons, paper plates, cardboard tubes, and plastic cups and bottles, and used them in extraordinary ways! They displayed their hard work and creativity in a“ Walk Through Sculpture Museum” for all to enjoy.
