CHARTING THE COURSE : PILOTING ONLINE STATE TESTING IN THE DIGITAL ERA
As education continues to evolve in the digital age , online assessment platforms are becoming more and more useful in the classroom . This spring , the Governor announced that by the 25-26 school year all state assessments will be administered online including Keystones and PSSA tests , representing a significant step forward in modernizing assessment methodologies .
This year , Brentwood Middle School had already taken a leap to begin to move in this direction . We decided to pilot state testing online with our eighth-grade science assessment . In addition to the other state assessments , we still give in paper-pencil form , teachers and administrators spent months preparing behind the scenes for student to take the assessment online , and then worked with our students to learn the platform , take a practice assessment and be ready for test day . As we continue to move toward online testing across the state , Brentwood students will see more of these assessments online in the near future .
