IN BRIEF !
A community-sourced playbook for prosperity
A draft of the new Comprehensive Plan for Brentwood Borough is ready for review . This follows an intensive community engagement process , deliberations by the plan ’ s Steering Committee and work by the consultant team to translate visions to practical strategies for the next decade . This plan is built in the Implementable Comprehensive Plan model , which focuses on diving deep into the Key Issues that are most important to community members . This helps to ensure that the plan ’ s strategies are practical and reflect strong public support . For a copy of the Plan www . brentwoodpa . gov .
Plan structure
The plan ’ s five Key Issues are rooted firmly in the results of public and stakeholder engagement , which involved a well-promoted questionnaire with hundreds of responses , a series of interviews and several public meetings and pop-ups . The plan primarily addresses :
Brownsville road Enriching the quality of destination and public realm
Development & redevelopment Strategies for advancing economic development
Parking Getting to the bottom of the perennially vexing issue of where to store ever larger , ever more vehicles
Marketing and communications Telling Brentwood ’ s story , capturing the cool factor
Connectivity Upgrading connections and conditions for those on foot or bike
Brentwood ’ s storylines
Fully unique to this plan is the interweaving of three storylines throughout . Each storyline is relevant to each Key Issue and reflected in strategies , pulled in at the end of chapters .

COOPERATION IS KEY FOR SUCCESSFUL BOROUGH IMPROVEMENTS
As residents of our beloved borough , we all share the desire for well-maintained streets , smooth sidewalks , and safe infrastructure . However , achieving these improvements requires cooperation and understanding from all of us , especially when it comes to accommodating the work of borough workers and contractors .
One of the biggest challenges we face is the narrow width of our streets and the prevalence of onstreet parking . To enable roadway improvements , paving , and sidewalk repairs , residents on affected streets are often asked to temporarily relocate their vehicles during work hours . While this inconvenience is undoubtedly frustrating , it is a necessary step to ensure the safety of workers and the efficient completion of projects .
We understand the disappointment when vehicles are moved , only to find that contractors did not show up on the scheduled day . However , it ' s important to remember that outside construction projects are subject to various factors that can affect the schedule , such as inclement weather , equipment breakdowns , asphalt plant issues , or unexpected emergencies . These unforeseen circumstances are beyond the control of the borough or contractors , and they work diligently to coordinate and communicate any changes as soon as possible .
While the temporary relocation of vehicles may seem like a minor inconvenience , it plays a crucial role in enabling the improvements we all desire . Well-maintained roads and sidewalks not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of our community but also contribute to safety and accessibility for all residents .
We encourage everyone to exercise patience and cooperation during these improvement projects . By working together and understanding the challenges involved , we can create a more beautiful and functional environment for all to enjoy . The Borough will continue to work to keep everyone informed of these projects and provide as much addition notification as possible . ( Remember not every construction project is performed by the Borough . The Utility Companies are frequently performing their own infrastructure improvements .)
It seems the same individuals who complain about moving their vehicles are often the ones who express frustration over the condition of our roads and sidewalks . Let ' s break this cycle by embracing a spirit of cooperation and understanding , recognizing that temporary inconveniences today pave the way for a better borough tomorrow .
