Brentwood ’ s 2024 Capital Improvement Program

The proposed 2024 Capital Improvement Fund budget for the Borough of Brentwood totals $ 6,262,000 , comprising 44 capital improvement projects across various departments . The major expenditures include :

Civic Center Renovations ($ 2,935,000 ) - 2024 Roadway Paving Program ($ 555,000 ) - Park Security Cameras ($ 200,000 ) - Sidewalk Rehabilitation Cost Sharing Program ($ 220,000 )

The funding sources for the capital budget include the General Fund ( 60 %), Sanitary Sewer Fund ( 35 %), Grants ( 3 %), and Operating Reserve Fund ( 1 %).

Significant investments are planned for infrastructure improvements , including road paving , stormwater management , traffic signals , and ADA ramp replacements . Public safety enhancements comprise police vehicles , body-worn cameras , drones , and automated license plate recognition cameras . Park and recreation improvements include playground resurfacing , landscaping , and a new volleyball court .

The capital budget aims to address the Borough ' s critical infrastructure needs , enhance public safety , and improve recreational facilities for the community .

Sidewalk Cost Sharing Project

In the tenth year of this highly popular program , the Borough will be able to make close to $ 200,000 worth of repairs to the Borough sidewalks . Remember , this amount will be offset by the participating resident ’ s share of

these costs . Piccolomini Development was awarded this year ’ s contract to replace the many hazardous concrete sidewalks and concrete curbs .

This project will entail the restoration of defective sections of sidewalk and the installation of new slabs in locations that contain gaps . Targeted streets are : - Bellanca Ave from Owendale Ave to

Way - Kaplan Ave from Greenlea Rd to

Kestner Ave

- Kestner Ave from Bellanca Ave to Laveton Ave The contractor got off to an early start this year and began in May and is expected to be completed by July 31 , 2024 .

2024 Road Paving Program

Year 10 of the Borough ’ s continuous 5-Year Street Rehabilitation and Maintenance Plan includes the improvements of six ( 6 ) streets and alleyways . - Bellanca Ave - Owendale Ave to

Kestner Avenue E . Brentridge Ave . - Brownsville Road to Dalewood

Street Elroy St . - Glendale Avenue to Brentwood

Avenue Kaplan Ave x - Greenlea Rd to Kestner Avenue

Kestner Ave - Bellanca Ave to Laveton Avenue

Allaire Way - Spangler Ave to Clearmont Way

This year ’ s contract was awarded to El Grande Industries , Inc ., the low bidder , for $ 343,644.10 . It is anticipated that this project will commence following the completion of the sidewalks and curbing on the respective streets sometime in August 2024 with a completion date of September 2024 .

Civic Center Renovations Project

The Borough has begun the major interior renovations of the Brentwood Civic Center . This approximately $ 2.6 million-dollar project is estimated to be completed in late July 2024 .

Playground Resurfacing

The Borough has approved the resurfacing of the Park Playground . This $ 150,000 project will improve the safety components and add a fresh look to this popular attraction on the Park . This project was completed in April 2024 .

Basketball Court Resurfacing The Borough has approved the resurfacing of the Basketball Court . Following the resurfacing , the court will be completely painted in colors to complement the tennis courts . This project should be completed in June 2024 .

2025 and Beyond ….
