BALDWIN BOROUGH PUBLIC LIBRARY HOSTING ANNUAL TOUCH-A-TRUCK COMMUNITY EVENT AND FUNDRAISER
The Baldwin Borough Public Library will host its annual Touch-a-Truck community event and library fundraiser from 10 a. m. – 2 p. m. on Saturday, June 25, at the Baldwin Borough Municipal Building. The cost is $ 10 donation per family or $ 5 per individual( whichever is less).
This is a great family event and will allow children of all ages to meet police officers, firefighters, truck operators and even local mascots. They can take pictures with truck operators and honk the horns.( Note: there will be a“ no-horn zone” from 1 – 2 p. m.)
This year, in addition to the trucks, there will be child fingerprinting as well as a bike safety helmet giveaway.
The Baldwin Borough Police Department will be sponsoring child fingerprinting from 10 – 11:30 a. m. and 12:30 – 2 p. m.
The Kiwanis Club of Baldwin in partnership with Baldwin EMS is sponsoring a Bike Safety Helmet Giveaway beginning at 11:30 a. m.
Many of the trucks will be returning from last year with the addition of new ones! The library will be continually updating its website and Facebook page when new vehicles are added to the event.
The vehicles that will be at this year’ s event include fire trucks, ambulance, police car, SWAT car, classic cars, Bookmobile, Remnant City Rug Bug, Michael Brothers’ hauler and construction equipment, Duquesne Light bucket truck, bulldozer and more!
Additionally, there will be mascot appearances by Wattley( Duquesne Light), Buffalo( Buffalo Wild Wings), RoMo( Robert Morris University) and ANDY the Ambulance( Baldwin EMS).

HEALTH DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES WIC GROCERY STORE CHANGES
The Allegheny County Health Department( ACHD) announced that Express Mini Mart at 3518 Brownsville Road( Brentwood) will now accept food vouchers for the Women, Infants and Children( WIC) Supplemental Food and Nutrition Program.
Himalayan Grocery at 3621 Brownsville Road( Brentwood) no longer accepts WIC vouchers.
More than 100 grocery stores throughout the county participate in the WIC program. Locations and directions for the stores can be found on the health department’ s website at achd. net / wic / vendor. html.
WIC is a federally funded program for pregnant women, postpartum and breastfeeding mothers, infants, and children under the age of five. Eligibility is based on income and nutritional risk.
The 2015-16 income limits for eligibility start with an annual gross income of $ 21,775 for a family of one; $ 29,471 for two; $ 37,167 for three; $ 44,863 for four; and $ 52,559 for five. Unborn children are counted when the woman is pregnant. Allegheny County residents with family sizes larger than five should contact the health department directly for benefit information.

BRENTWOOD FIRECRACKER 5K RACE
VOLUNTEER AND BE A PART OF THE Brentwood Firecracker 5K TRADITION
Last July at the 32nd Annual Brentwood Firecracker 5K race, Allegheny County Chief Executive Rich Fitzgerald presented a banner designating Brentwood as a“ Live Well Community.”
Event organizers are looking for volunteers to help with the 2016 Brentwood 5K race.
This event has been a part of the July 4th celebration in Brentwood for 32 years. It is the opening event for the much-anticipated July 4th Parade. Both events take place along the Brentwood business district corridor on Brownsville Rd.
With over 2,000 participants, the event relies on volunteers to help with race registration and packet pickup, for pre-race and race day, as well as set-up and clean-up. It will verify community service, and volunteers receive a free T-shirt.

RINGING BELLS
Northwood Realty agents Mary Ann Aarseth and Courtney Tolner, along with loan officer Matthew Socol of West Penn Financial, showcased a beautiful booth at the 27th Annual Pittsburgh Bridal Show on March 20 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Attendees were able to register for a fantastic trunk full of beautiful housewares valued at $ 1,500. The winner of the raffle was a lovely couple, Alesia Tonkin and Niall Hawking. n
