HOW YOUR PROPERTY TAX DOLLAR IS SPENT IN 2025
COMMUNITY NEWS
Real estate property taxes account for over 50 % of the Borough’ s funding, providing a consistent and stable revenue source. While the Borough Administration remains committed to managing operating expenses efficiently, certain costs— such as solid waste and recycling, pensions, and healthcare— continue to represent significant portions of the General Fund Expenditures and are largely beyond our control.
Despite these challenges, the Borough has balanced all Funds without implementing a tax increase. For 2025, the Real Estate Tax Millage Rate will remain steady at 8.03 mills. Similarly, sewage rates are unchanged, with the monthly surcharge set at $ 15.75 and the sewer usage rate at $ 13.52 per 1,000 gallons.
The graph above illustrates how each dollar of Borough property tax revenue is allocated in the 2025 budget. For a detailed look, the full budget is available on the Borough’ s website.

ALARM PERMIT RENEWAL TIME
The renewal period for residential and commercial alarms is upon us. Letters and applications have been mailed to current residential and commercial permit holders. They are due to be submitted to the police department by April 1, 2025, along with payment. We are happy to report that our fees have remained the same again this year; $ 5.00 for a residential permit, and $ 60.00 for a commercial permit. Any resident who has had a new alarm installed must register that alarm system with the police department.
All information / forms can be found on the Borough’ s web page. Questions can be answered by calling the non-emergency line for the police department, which is 412-881-1300.
