TRASH AND RECYCLING FAQ ’ S :
1 . When will the new carts arrive ? How will I know when they are arriving ?
We expect the new carts to arrive during the first quarter of the year . There has been no date specified by WM for distribution . We will post the date to our website and social media pages once the date is announced . aldwin BALDWIN BOROUGH NEWS
Real estate property taxes make up over 50 % of the Borough ’ s funding . Collection of this tax has remained consistent and stable . While the Borough Administration works diligently to control operating expenses , many factors that drive costs up are outside of our control . Items such as solid waste and recycling , pension , and healthcare continue to consume large portions of the General Fund Expenditures . In order to cover expenses without reducing services , a tax increase of 1.25 mills was required . This means the Real Estate Tax Millage rate for 2024 is 8.03 mills . The graph above shows how every Borough property tax dollar is budgeted in 2024 . The full budget is available to view on the Borough ’ s website .
2 . How can I get rid of my old trash can ? After the new carts have been distributed , you can dispose of your old can ( s ) by marking them as trash and leaving them out for pick up during the first full week of each month when bulk items are collected .
3 . How do I get a second cart ? Is there a cost ?
A second cart can be acquired through WM and paid for on a yearly basis . The cost for an additional cart in 2024 is $ 110 and will increase by 7 % each year until 2028 . The account can be set up through WM after the distribution of the first cart has occurred .

How to Recycle
Please drop off any plastic film you may have in the community collection bin . The bin is conveniently located at the front of the Baldwin Borough Administration Building Entrance at 3344 Churchview Ave .
By participating in the Baldwin Borough Plastic Film Recycling Program , you are not only helping the planet , but your community as well . Plastic film is thin , clear , or opaque plastic that is often used in food storage or packaging . Recycling your plastic film through this community program is a great way to give back to the community .
For every 1,000 pounds of plastic film recycled , a bench is earned for the community . In order to be recycled , all plastic must be clean , dry , and free of food residue .

4 . I already have a trash cart . Can that cart be used as my 2nd cart ?
WM is responsible for the repair and replacement of the carts . The serial number associated with each WM cart will correspond with the home address and will also be used to identify the cart for warranty purposes as well as billing / pickup . Therefore , only WM carts can be used for collection .
5 . Can I get a smaller cart ? At this time , a smaller cart option is not being offered .
6 . Can glass be recycled ?
Yes ! Glass can once again be recycled through your recycling cart beginning January 1 , 2024 . The glass recycling container at Elm Leaf Park will remain . Glass recycling is also taken at Michael Bros . on Horning Rd .
7 . Is plastic recycling still limited to # 1 and # 2 ?
Plastic recycling is accepted based on shape . Plastic bottles ( water , soda , etc .), tubs ( cottage cheese , Cool Whip , etc .), jars ( peanut butter , salsa , etc .) and jugs ( laundry detergent , milk , etc .) are fit for recycling . Clear plastic “ clamshell ” containers ( for blueberries , strawberries , etc .) or thin plastic deli containers are not recyclable . These items were identified on the mailer provided to each resident in January and can also be found at wm . com / us / en / recycle-right .
