Navigating the Digital World: Tools for Families

Media and technology are at the very center of all our lives today – especially our children’ s. Kids today spend over 50 hours of screen time every week. The media content they consume and create has a profound impact on their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Learning how to use media and technology wisely is an essential skill for life and learning in the 21st century. Knowing and understanding this reality, the Brentwood Borough School District in partnership with Common Sense Education has continued to integrate digital citizenship lessons into the K-12 core curriculum. Students at each grade band have or will be introduced to topics such as digital footprints, privacy and security, information literacy, and internet safety.
In addition to the curriculum resources provided by Common Sense Education, Common Sense Media offers various tools to help families navigate through the ever-changing digital world. Some of the family resources include:
