EQUINE EDUCATION
J. E. Harrison Middle School students are deepening real-world skills through Horses of Hope, an equine education program aligned with the District’ s core competencies. Most recently, students worked together to discuss boundaries and communicate effectively while collaboratively building structures for the horses. Along the way, they also made some fuzzy new friends, including Izzy, a donkey who shares a pasture with four miniature horses. As the stabilizing force in the field, she manages the active group with a calm, dignified demeanor. MELODIES OF EDUCATION
Whitehall Elementary School second-graders in Ms. Kraus’ music class enjoyed a special visit from Wendy Webb Kumer, a nationally recognized flutist, as part of their“ Instruments of the Orchestra” badge work. Students got an up-close look at the orchestral flute, piccolo, alto flute, and bass flute, while Mrs. Kumer performed everything from classical pieces to favorites like the Mario Bros. theme. A memorable, music-filled experience for all!

DA VINCIAN AND NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETIES TAKE ON NYC
The da Vincian Society, sponsored by Mr. Wodarek, and the National Art Honor Society, sponsored by Ms. Flannery, had an amazing time on their recent trip to New York City. Students explored Times Square and many of New York’ s most iconic spots. Experiences like these remind students how meaningful travel can be, giving them the chance to see new places, experience different cultures, and make memories together outside of the classroom.
