LITTLE BETS PAY OFF BIG! INVENTOR’ S IMAGINARIUM INSPIRES FUTURE INNOVATORS AT MOORE SCHOOL
Fifth graders at Moore School recently brought their boldest ideas to life through the Inventor’ s Imaginarium, a hands-on project that blended invention, entrepreneurship, and historical research. Launched in the fall and continuing through the spring, the project gave students months of creative exploration, skill-building, and perseverance.
Thanks to a generous grant, students spent weeks designing prototypes, filming green screen commercials, and diving into the lives of groundbreaking inventors. They began by identifying everyday problems faced by younger students— and brainstorming inventive solutions. With materials provided by the grant, they built working prototypes like the Homework Helper, a device to track assignments; the Do-It-All Robot, designed to retrieve supplies in class; and the Tinker Thinker Desk, equipped with calming tools to boost focus.
Next, students stepped into the spotlight, producing commercials to showcase their inventions. Using green screen technology, they learned to script, film, and edit their videos, gaining hands-on experience with digital tools while practicing public speaking and marketing strategies.
To deepen their understanding of innovation, students researched historical inventors like Marie Curie, Alexander Graham Bell, and Hedy Lamarr. They created detailed trifold displays and prepared presentations highlighting the inventors’ contributions to society.
The project culminated in a Living Inventor Museum at the school’ s Reading Fair. Dressed as their chosen inventors, students presented both their research and inventions to families, teachers, and community members. The event was a joyful celebration of creativity, learning, and student voice.
“ The Inventor’ s Imaginarium helped students see themselves as engineers, researchers, and storytellers,” said Mrs. Sciulli.“ They learned that their ideas have power— and that they can shape the world around them.”
This memorable project not only brought science and history to life but also sparked curiosity, confidence, and a passion for learning that students will carry
into the future.

BRENTWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL GIVES BACK
The students and staff at Brentwood Middle School joined forces to establish the first annual“ Day of Giving”.
During the school year, each middle school student at Brentwood participates in an Advisory program, where they monitor their academic progress, explore valuable character traits, and pursue community service opportunities. The opportunity to engage in community service was taken to a new level this year as approximately 260 middle school students and 20 staff members were divided into sixteen different teams and traveled throughout the borough taking part in a wide range of projects. The students made“ Thank You” cards and baked treats for the Brentwood Police and Volunteer Fire Department, visited residents at local nursing homes, worked with younger students at Elroy and Moore Elementary Schools, cleaned up Brentwood Park and Brownsville Road, and much more!
The“ Day of Giving” was organized by longtime Advisory coordinators, Mrs. Lynne Golvash and Mrs. Diana Kleinhampl. As part of the community
service day, each middle school student was provided with a Brentwood Middle School t-shirt as well as a catered lunch. Several local businesses and organizations made generous contributions to assist with the program including:
Brentwood Borough Council Brentwood Business Owners’ Association Friends of Brentwood Library Golvash and Epstein Attorneys at Law Brentwood Education Association Rowdy BBQ Dollar General Shields Embroidery The“ Day of Giving” was a wonderful way for the students to engage with and show appreciation for their community, and Brentwood Middle School is looking forward to continuing the tradition for years to come!
