OUR OUTSTANDING ADMINISTRATORS
Meet the team building the future of educational instruction aldwin-Whitehall BALDWIN-WHITEHALL SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS
The last several years have brought profound obstacles to education . The District is grateful to have six amazing administrators at the helm who are forging a new path for educational instruction and building a community that ’ s bringing learning to life in new and exciting ways . The District is innovating approaches , expanding offerings , and equipping students with the skills they need to thrive today and explore the careers of the future . It ’ s our pleasure to showcase the team of extraordinary administrators who are building the future of learning , one day at a time .
As our Director of Secondary Education , Ms . Jill Fleming-Salopek is our students ’ most passionate advocate with a very clear purpose : helping our learners reach their full academic potential . When it comes to analyzing issues and working toward a group decision , she is unafraid to raise valid concerns that others might be tempted to overlook . In this role , she embodies the collective voice of our students ’ best interests .
In her role as Director of Student Services , Ms . Marissa Gallagher ’ s job is to find the best solutions for students with complex needs . She is a tireless champion for ALL students , including students with exceptionalities , English learners , and so many others whose personal challenges become Marissa ’ s own . As a District that welcomes a high number of international and refugee students in our schools , Marissa ’ s long-term impact on their lives will endure long beyond the time they spend in our classrooms .
Ms . Andrea Huffman is our Director of Elementary Education which enables her to craft an educational experience that empowers our students to become their very best selves , year after year . With amazing attention to detail , remarkable organizational aptitude , and incisive problem-solving skills , Andrea possesses an uncanny ability to see how every piece of the educational puzzle affects every other piece and then synthesize it together into a highly effective action plan .
Dr . Janeen Peretin ’ s job title may be Director of Communication , Innovation , and Advancement , but she ’ s best known as a true visionary . She brings an analytical , data-influenced , and solution-oriented approach to every new problem , and always seeks ways to turn those problems into opportunities . For example , her years of advance preparation helped BWSD improve our remote teaching capabilities well before the pandemic arrived , which was crucial for enabling our faculty to swiftly pivot to remote and hybrid teaching in 2020 .
As BWSD ’ s Director of Employee Services , Dr . Rachel Sprouse has been instrumental in recruiting , hiring , retaining , and empowering our talented and dedicated group of faculty . Her skill for quick analysis , her calm demeanor , and her creative willingness to try outside-the-box solutions means that BWSD employees always know they ’ re being seen , heard , and capably represented within our District ’ s decision-making process . Her ability to keep her cool and approach difficult decisions with levelheaded steadiness has been invaluable .
Dr . Kara Eckert brings a balanced perspective and passion to her job of Student Engagement Coordinator . She joined the team during the COVID – 19 pandemic and immediately began finding new ways to engage our students , rally their sense of school spirit and togetherness , and ensure that our administration ’ s decisions always take into account our students ’ full range of academic , physical , mental , and emotional needs . She has engaged the community in creative ways through pop-up shops that provide families with necessities and through ProjectOne , a consortium that connects area nonprofits and community groups to coordinate and better serve our region .
This group is truly a team . Our administrators have fostered a working environment based on openness , trust , and accountability that has enabled all of our teachers to be successful and unafraid to try new things . Not only do they create an exceptional educational environment , they model for our students what respect , collaboration , innovation , and dedication look like . Thank you to these standout administrators for leading the way .
