NEWSLETTER Hello. Our department hopes that everyone had a great summer and is looking forward to fall and all the associated activities in our community. With Child Passenger Safety week coming up on September 18-24, we want to ensure that everyone is aware of a recent change to Pennsylvania’s Occupant Protection Law. Effective now is that any child under 2 years of age shall be fastened in a rear-facing child passenger restraint system. In the past the law only required a rear-facing seat up until 12 months of age. This was not the “best practice” and the law was changed to reflect it. For more information on the law please go to http://www.legis.state.pa.us/WU01/LI/LI/CT/ HTM/75/00.045.081.000..HTM We also want to let everyone know that an initiative was started recently called CLEAN-UP. CLEAN-UP stands for Code Enforcement Law Enforcement Examining Areas Noticing Uninviting Problems. The purpose of this initiative is to ensure that we are eradicating any current visible code violations that make a neighborhood attractive for criminal activity as well as to have a visible police patrol presence to deter criminal activity and engage with our community.
