BETHEL PARK SCHOOL DISTRICT
The Bethel Park Education Foundation( BPEF) is a community-based, nonprofit organization whose goal is to support programs that promote quality education in the Bethel Park School District. The Foundation works to facilitate communication and involvement among students, parents, school staff, business leaders and community residents.
Providing a quality education favorably impacts the entire community, but public schools today face a variety of new challenges as state and federal funding sources have been reduced or eliminated. The BPEF seeks to find alternate ways of funding important initiatives within all Bethel Park schools. The Foundation does not receive any public funding or funding from the school district. Its initiatives are supported solely by individual, community and corporate partners. Donors can be assured that their gifts create educational opportunities.
The Bethel Park Education Foundation is independent of the Bethel Park School
68 BETHEL PARK
District, but works closely with the School Board, administration, teachers and students. It is also a different and separate organization from the Bethel Park Community Foundation. The BPEF’ s mission is to enhance educational opportunities all for Bethel Park School District students by increasing community involvement with the schools.
The Foundation seeks to create initiatives that support imaginative and creative opportunities for excellence and innovation in education; collaborate with educational, cultural, public and private entities to enhance and enrich students’ educational experiences; and develop supportive relationships between the school district, community and alumni to raise funds for these initiatives.
The Foundation also encourages academic excellence by providing funding not available through traditional local, state or federal resources and seeks to provide a perpetual source of funds through endowment gifts.
All programs that benefit Bethel Park students will be considered for financial support. Foundation-supported initiatives include STEAM Grants, Individual Teacher Grants, Individual School Grants and Individual Student Grants. Grants are not administered as direct monetary payments to awardees, nor are any grants awarded for the purchase of food, beverages, parties, recreational activities or field trips.
Proposals that are submitted by students, teachers and administrators are reviewed by the BPEF’ s Board Members— Andy Amrhein, President; William Brucker, Vice President; Tom Bailey, Treasurer; Deb
Luckasevic, Secretary; Dr. Tim Campbell, Vic DiPrampero, Caitlin Metzler, Dr. Joseph Pasquerilla, Anthony Piscioneri, Haley Radcliffe and Dr. Roger Zelt.
Earlier this school year, the BPEF partnered with the Bethel Park Historical Society on a Student Essay and Artwork Contest, which was held in conjunction with the Bethel Park High School Fall Play,“ The Heist,” which was a fictionalized chronicle of the first armored car robbery in the United States, that took place in Bethel Park.
The theme of the contest was“ How do you feel that Bethel Park is unique?” and the winners received a $ 100 Visa gift card on the play’ s opening night. Congratulations to winners Oliva Anderson, Maddie Masztak, Matthew Ruffing, Calvin Walsh, Christina Bioni and Emily Guffey.
The BPEF also conducted a raffle during the High School Spring Musical, raffling off two autographed, framed posters from the casts of the Pittsburgh Civic Light productions of“ Kinky Boots” and“ An American In Paris.”
