B. P. TENDER CARE TEACHER AWARDED 2018 TERRI LYNNE LOKOFF CHILDREN’ S TYLENOL CHILDREN’ S ZYRTEC NATIONAL CHILD CARE TEACHER AWARD
The Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation( TLLCCF) has announced that Ashley Mountain, from the Tender Care Learning Center in Bethel Park, has been selected to receive a 2018 Terri Lynne Lokoff Children’ s Tylenol Children’ s Zyrtec National Child Care Teacher Award. This exemplary early care and education teacher was selected from a pool of applicants nationwide. Mountain received an award of $ 1,000 at a special ceremony in Philadelphia.
There are 50 National Child Care Teacher Award recipients for 2018. Each recipient designed an enhancement project that illustrates the educational, social and emotional benefits for the children in their care. With a grant from the awards program, Mountain will implement her project, Sensory Park.
Mountain explained,“ My project is a sensory park that has six different stations. The stations include the following: Textured path, textured racetrack, water wall, hanging garden and chalkboard. Having various sections in the park allows for various senses to be used and the opportunity for any learner to gain discovery and knowledge from what the park offers. The sensory park allows for all five senses to be used in unique ways and supports their learning by allowing new discovery to happen while focusing on senses. All in all, the sensory park will allow for the children to expand their senses and develop selfregulation.”
A committee of national early childhood educators and experts reviewed and scored the applications. Each recipient receives a $ 1,000 award: $ 500 to implement their proposed project and $ 500 to acknowledge their dedication.
Dating back to the inception of the awards program in 1994, the TLLCCF, with the inclusion of the 2018 recipients, will have presented 994 awards totaling more than $ 955,000 to early care and education teachers and providers for their dedication and excellence.
