2019 Bethel Park School District FINANCES 2019-2020 BUDGET 2019-2020 Budgeted Expenditures: $89,934,645 The Bethel Park Board of School Directors approved the 2019-2020 General Operating Budget in the amount of $89,934,645 in June 2019. The budget included using $5.4 million from the District’s fund balance to give taxpayers a millage reduction of 1.8763, bringing the District’s millage to 21 mills. Supplies, 3% Equipment, 0.50% Debt Service, 9% Purchased Services, 9% The 2019-2020 spending plan represents an increase of $2,941,333, or 2.35% over the 2018-2019 budget. The major portion of those increases are attributable to salaries and benefits, special education and the Pennsylvania School Employees Retirement System (PSERS). Revenues decreased $2,680,299 or 3.11% due to the reduction in Real Estate Tax. Salaries and Benefits, 78% Salaries and Benefits Purchased Services Supplies Equipment Debt Service 2019-2020 Budgeted Revenue: $83,593,098 Federal, 0.40% Other, 0.10% State, 29.50% Local revenue funds 70% of the budget, with the state and federal governments contributing the remaining 30%. Local, 70% Highlights of the budget include: Technology • • • • • • Purchasing 2,242 replacement Chromebooks for the District’s 1 to 1 Chromebook Initiative in Grades 2-6. Purchasing 355 iPads for Grades K-1. Purchasing new iMac computers for the Music Technology Classes at Bethel Park High School and Independence Middle School. Purchasing new iPad Pros with Apple Pencils for use in the Bethel Park High School Fine Arts Lab. Purchasing 20 new LCD projectors for replacement in areas of need. Purchasing and installation of new wireless access points, district-wide. Local Curriculum • • State Purchased new Social Studies Resources for Grades 9-12, including U.S. History, World History and Geography, U.S. Government, Economics, Psychology, and Law and You, including textbooks, accompanying materials and bundle package subscriptions. A committee has been formed to look into the purchase of updated Federal Other curriculum materials for Algebra, Algebra II and Geometry.
