SEVENTH GRADER’ S BOOK TRAILER CATCHES EYE OF AUTHOR
Jessica Toogood with a copy of Maxed Out.
Independence Middle School Seventh Grader Jessica Toogood’ s online video book trailer for the book, Maxed Out, caught the eye of the author, Daphne Greer, and Ms. Greer wrote a letter to IMS Principal David Muench to let him know how touched she was that the book was chosen, and how impressed she was that the trailer captured the essence of the story.
Independence Middle School students have the opportunity to create video book trailers as part of the Reading or Language Arts curriculum, which are posted on the IMS Library’ s web page. You can see all of the book trailers and Ms. Greer’ s letter to Mr. Muench at http:// www. bpsd. org / BookTrailers. aspx. You can see Jessica › s book trailer at http:// www. bpsd. org / Downloads / Maxed _ Out- FINAL _ 360p. mp4.
The book trailers are popular outside the IMS community. IMS Librarian Patty Heasley said she was contacted by a school librarian in Hershey, PA to ask for permission to use the IMS students’ book trailers to encourage her students to read.
Great work, IMS students!
